Winter League 3-Day Stage Race open to all Cyclists

altThis year's Winter League Series finishes in grand style with a 3-Day Stage Race taking place from Friday, 18th - Sunday, 20th June 2010.  This event is open to all Winter League Teams and Individual Riders.

The 3-Day Tour starts on Friday evening at 18H00 with a 6.5km Prologue Time Trial in the Coega Industrial Development Zone.  Stage 2 is a 106km* Road Race over a totally new circuit starting at Altona School on Saturday morning at 08H00.  Stage 3 and 4 are back at the Coega IDZ and consists of a 1km Hill Climb at 09H00 followed by a 1 Hour* Criterium.

This 3-Day Stage Race is open to all licensed cyclists:

  • Premier League Teams with a maximum of 6 riders,
  • Schools League Teams of a maximum of 4 riders,
  • Newly formed League Teams (as above),
  • Individual riders who would like to participate. 

altThe 3-Day Stage Race starts in Zone 2 of the Coega Industrial Development Zone, right next to Scribante Race Track (access to the start area is on Kyalami Road - the road to Scribante Race Track).  Registration will open at 16H00 on Friday afternoon and racing will start at 18H00 with the Schools League cyclists off first, followed by the Premier League cyclists.

The Prologue Time Trial is an Individual Time Trial around a 6.5km course through the Coega IDZ.  Only cyclists in the Premier League may use Time Trial equipment. altThis event will determine the Yellow Jersey holder for the start of the Road Race.

Stage 2 is a challenging Road Race over two new cuicuits starting and finishing at Altona School.  Sign-in is from 07H00 and the Premier League Riders will start racing at 08H00 with 1 lap of the short circuit followed by 2 laps of the large circuit.  There will be 2 Sprint primes and 2 KOM primes on the route to determine the White and Polka Dot jersey holders. alt

Sunday will see the final 2 stages being held at the Coega IDZ.  Sign-in will be from 08H00 with racing starting at 09H00.  Stage 3 will be a short 1km dash up the only "hill" we could find at Coega, followed by Stage 4 - a Criterium around a street circuit.
