Licensing for 2010 has opened and
can be done online at www.myrace.co.za
Every cyclist in the province should take out one of the
following licenses:
Racing License - R300: For elite level riders
wanting to compete internationally or in national
championships.
Cyclosport - R75: For regular event
participation.
If you participate in two or more of the following CSA
sanctioned events during a year, Herald, Bruintjies,
Argus, Engen Cycle Tour, NMMU Cycle Tour, Lorraine Cycle
Tour or any other classic around the country, it is
financially beneficial to you to take out a license,
Junior License- R35: 18 and younger (born 1992
and after). All juniors (both competitive and social)
will ride under this single license.
The ruling from Cycling South Africa is that all
unlicensed riders will be expected to pay a day license
fee of R35 at all events that are sanctioned by CSA.
The license fee you pay is split between CSA and the
provincial body, in our case EPC. This means that
the more cyclists that are licensed in the province, the
more money will come to EPC. EPC in turn can then
provide more events during the year and plough back into
cycling and you the cyclist will benefit from this.
Take out your license now. Encourage your mates
to do the same and if not members of a club get them to
join a club and license. Financially it is beneficial to
the cyclist to license rather than pay R35 for a Day
License at each event. |

| ICE
ID (In Case of Emergency Identification) |
ICE ID is dedicated to
the idea that any person who is active outdoors should be
wearing an In Case of Emergency tag. In a country where we have
both an abundance of outdoor activity and many ways we can be
hurt, choosing to wear ICE ID is a way we can feel and be safer.
ICE is an internationally known acronym for In Case of
Emergency. Throughout the world everyone is encouraged to enter
the acronym ICE into their mobile phone with the person’s
number they would like contacted In Case of Emergency. ICE ID
takes it a few steps further. In case of an emergency you may
need more than just a contact number. You may wa nt paramedics to
know that you are a diabetic, that you're allergic to
penicillin, what your blood type or medical aid number is. It's
not always practical to carry cell phones when we are walking,
hiking, running, cycling, surfing etc. At these times we need
wearable-identification that can’t be dropped, lose signal, be
broken in a fall, get stolen or left behind.
